Many of us girls have Pinterest and love to make boards with our dream houses, closets and weddings. We like to make our own little perfect worlds through Pinterest. But, Pinterest can also really help with living a healthy lifestyle. I love to go on and find new healthy recipes and different workout routines.
I have found so many great workout techniques by going on Pinterest and just typing in words such as bikini body work outs, get toned, 30-minute-work outs and other things like that. I also type in things like healthy dinner recipes that take less than 30 minutes or cheap healthy recipes. Sometimes you have to click-through a few before you find the perfect one, but it is fun and a different way to motivate yourself.
Create a workout board and a healthy eating board, then challenge yourself to try a different workout you pinned everyday for a week and do the same with healthy meals. It is a fun way to help figure out what exercises you like and what meals you enjoy.
So I am challenging you. Get on Pinterest, find seven meals and seven workouts and tell me what happens. Tweet at me if you do the challenge with some of your favorite meals and workouts @kelsgangle #dontstopmoving.
I personally am a HUGE fan of traveling. I like to travel whenever I possibly can. With traveling comes lots of opportunities to eat AMAZING food, and I never want to miss an opportunity to try anything.
On vacation indulging in some foods you would not usually, is totally fine! Like I’ve said before, everyone deserves cheat days…and vacations are the perfect opportunity for just that! But remember, you do not want to lose everything you have been working for, so that being said, eat what you want, but do not forget to exercise.
When on vacation if you can walk instead of taking a taxi or driving do that! When you walk around a new city you get to take in so much more, you see things that you would have missed in a car! Go explore places, go down random streets! Before you know it you’ll have walked 10 miles without even realizing it!
On vacation I also LOVE to go for runs! I just go and run with no plan. Whenever I do this I always find restaurants I want to try or places I want to go. I seem to always hit my highest mileage on vacations because I lose track of time looking around at all the new cool places.
An amazing view I found of Paris while exploring!
A delicious meal I had in Orlando before departing for Europe
Today I am going to take a little turn and talk about food. So far I have mainly been focusing on exercise, but to fully be able to accomplish your most healthy self you need to consider your diet.
Everyone always makes it sound like eating healthy either means, giving up everything yummy in life or having to make elaborate, expensive meals. Eating healthy can be done in delicious and cheap ways. I have found some sites that I use personally to find new yummy and cheap recipes that fit my college budget that I am going to share to help you kick off your healthy eating.
-Skinny Mom: https://www.skinnymom.com/category/recipe-index/chicken-and-turkey/page/2/ Found yummy things such as chicken wings, but shows a healthier way to make them!
-Greatest: http://greatist.com/eat/healthy-meals-ready-15-minutes-or-less?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=greatist&utm_campaign=healthy-meals-ready-15-minutes-or-less&sr_share=pinterest About to try their smoked sausage, white bean and spinach pasta!
-Frugality Gal: http://frugalitygal.com/2015/12/17-healthy-one-pot-meals.html Love the chicken burrito bowls!
And remember, just because you are eating healthy and exercising does not mean that you have to give up all unhealthy food for life! Everyone is allowed to have cheat days…just do not make those cheat days happen on a regular basis.
Life can be crazy. There are days where you barely have time to stop and think. You go from work to class to meetings to doing homework…and it goes on and on. It can seem impossible sometimes to fit a workout into your day, and it’s an easy thing to shove off the list and say “I’ll just go tomorrow.” You need to find a way to ingrain it in you that working out is as important as going to work.
There are different ways that you can go about making working out be a part of your daily routine. For me, anything I write down in my planner I HAVE to do before I go to bed, or it drives me insane. So I always write down to run or workout…it is a set part of my schedule even if that means having to go workout at 6:00 a.m. or 8:00 p.m..
You can do other things too such as, every time I am in the elevator I am going to do squats, or do jumping jacks for however long you have food in the microwave. You can also do core while watching TV, or for 10 minutes before going to bed. Throughout your day incorporate little workouts throughout what you are doing and then on your insane days you do not even have to step foot in a gym.
There are lots of great trainers out there to help you get in the best shape possible. Mine, is Jimmie. Jimmie has helped me learn techniques, has kept me in check when I would rather skip my workout and eat, and always keeps me wanting to push myself.
Jimmie has a boot camp that meets three times a week. On off days he texts you ensuring that you are getting in your needed cardio and eating properly to help keep you fit. He pushes each person in his or her own way. He gets to know you and figures out the ways to motivate you to get in shape.
Jimmie is also starting an online program for those that do not live in Gainesville, or cannot make it at the times of the boot camp. Now you can still have a workout schedule to follow and a trainer that can still check in with you!
When you see the results…you will not be disappointed.
Lets just say, Jimmie has become sort of an icon amongst the Greek community for people trying to get that toned, fit body many college girls want.
So why don’t you jump on board and get your summer bod, starting today!
It can be hard to find time to workout. There is always something that you can find to do other than put on your shoes and go to the gym. For those days that you know you are not going to be able to make it to the gym here are some things you can do. One, whenever you have a free moment that you are standing, for instance, standing in front of the microwave or in the elevator, do squats. When sitting at your desk at work do butt squeezes. While sitting in front of the TV or when getting ready for bed do some sit ups. Adding in these little things will make a huge difference.
My name is Kelsey! I have decided to start a blog to help people become more fit and learn how to live a healthy life style! Writing this blog is like starting to live a healthy lifestyle…it takes small steps and just starting somewhere in general. The first step is just deciding to go for it and make a change. Start with something simple, for instance, go for a 15 minute walk or cut one thing you eat that is unhealthy out of your life.
I am greatly looking forward to writing this blog and hopefully making a change in your life to live a healthy lifestyle!
